YOU ARE UNAWARE OF ELECTION RIGGING BY THE GOP?

It is happening and it is a set of unprecedented attacks on democracy itself

And yes, it is the Teabaggers and the Koch Brothers along with all those repugnant Evangelicals who are behind it and egging on the Governors of these states to enact legislation meant to suppress the vote…that would most likely be voters who ordinarily vote for the Democrats.

It's an outrageous election-rigging scheme aimed squarely at Democrats that's happening right under our noses. Empowered Republicans in Pennsylvania are trying to award the state's electoral votes by congressional districts instead of by popular vote, meaning that President Obama could win this key swing state next year but still receive less than the full 21 electoral votes. These Teabaggers feel that the 2010 elections gave them a mandate to change the electoral landscape and the social fabric of America. They will stop at nothing, will not compromise nor will they listen to reason, logic or recognize there are facts, figures and evidence to debunk all of their ideology. It's a perverse power play of diabolic proportions, and it might just be crazy enough to succeed – if we don't stop it right now.

Emboldened Republicans Governors and legislators are limiting ballot access in statehouses across the country – closing early vote locations, mandating new forms of ID, and cracking down on non-partisan groups that register voters. They know that when they control statehouses, they have the power to enact their far right agenda of gutting environmental protections, targeting workers, and dismantling women's rights; Florida where I live, Wisconsin, Michigan and Ohio are but the most outrageous ones…other states are expected to follow suit.

The New York Times is reporting that the latest assault by Pennsylvania Republicans "could prompt similar moves in other big states like Wisconsin, Michigan and Ohio, where Republicans recently took control."

The GOP is also looking to grab the reins of power in battleground states like Missouri, New Hampshire, and North Carolina, where the veto pen of Democratic governors is the only check on right-wing extremism.

And you thought the Tea Party movement was a grassroots phenomenon with very limited participation and even less of a chance to gain the reins of power? Well, think again, they were originally fueled by Koch Brothers’ money and still are. They are motivated by a racist, visceral hatred of a black President and they are also on an ego trip where they think that the Creator himself/herself anointed them to make America a theocracy; these are the ones who rejoice at high unemployment numbers and when America didn’t get the Olympics…the same ones who think corporations are people, Social Security a Ponzi scheme and Welfare recipients are all drug addicts.

Are we going to stand idle and just surrender the American Dream and our precious DEMOCRACY all gift-wrapped and without any opposition? I should think not…it took us more than 200 years to make this experiment in equality, fairness and democratic participation begin to work; we are certainly not, should not, will not just give it up.
