FASHION DESIGNERS OUGHT TO HAVE A REALITY CHECK

As fashion becomes more outrageous, the reality of wearing those rags becomes more remote.

Let’s face it guys, as fashion conscious as we may all be, there are certain outlandish garments of clothing or accessories that we would never wear in the real world. I mean, can you imagine walking down the streets of Oklahoma City or Des Moines wearing something like this? Or, could you picture yourself going to East Los Angeles donning an outfit like these? It is unthinkable, isn’t it? At least if you value your life…for all these are screaming: I’M GAY.

I seriously question the criteria these designers have in picking their models; it looks to me like they are usually scrawny and devoid of any masculine traits. Let's just say that I think the designers are going for a pre-pubescent androgenous look. The models of course deprive themselves of nourishment in order to fit the image, much to the detriment of their own health.

Not that it is not imperative that we maintain our identity and our freedom; but there are certain places in our country where even an off-color shirt or tie, a pair of pants that fits too tight, a man’s hand bag or that kind of thing would not only raise eyebrows it would incite some homophobic bully to attack us. It could even cost us our life.

To tell you the truth, I think that Pride Parades ought to be as outrageous and as in your face as possible in order do piss off all those prudish Evangelicals. You see, the reason these people are conservatives (mostly Teahadist-Republicans) is because they don't take kindly to change. These conformists want everything to stay the same, for people to wear the same clothes, behave in a certain fashion that decries submission...they wouldn't have it any other way and that is perhaps the reason they are so incensed and indignant about gay parades...I hope these parades are televised and it gets into their living rooms...for them to see on television the debauchery and audacity of the gays.
