WHY I DON’T THINK YOU CAN BE CIVIL AND REASONABLE WITH RIGHT-WING CONSERVATIVES AND FUNDAMENTALIST-EVANGELICAL-CHRISTIANISTS.

I’ve been criticized for my rants against conservatives and religious fanatics, but I don’t think there is any other way.

Suffice it to say that being reasonable, affable and compromising does not work with any of these radicals. The facts and history don’t matter to them so that they are so blinded by their askew ideology that even in the face of reason and facts they will still cling on to their stupidity. It never fails that they will say something like: Reagan, Bush ! and Bush 2 were fiscal conservatives and Clinton was a tax and spend liberal when the opposite is true.

The problem with being civil and reasonable with these people is that they misinterpret your desire to be civilized and reasonable for weakness. These Christianists and right wingers think that if we don’t engage them in a discussion it is because we don’t have an argument and because they are right. They think that if you are mildly opposing them that they have the upper hand, they will get the impression that they are right and have won the argument.

Nothing could convince me that in the face of these intellectually challenged and unreasonable people you could possibly show them anything but indignation, to be on your face, to draw a line in the sand, to belittle and humiliate them and maybe they will respect you…because they don’t respect you if you are sheepish and demure.
