THE 1% KNOWS HOW TO STIFF THE REST OF US

We are going to have to learn how to stick it to them and do it fast before we become a plutocracy

Today I was talking to my friend who was feeling depressed…totally in the dumps because he is about to finish nursing school and there are no job prospects. He is upset because he will be over $20,000 in debt when he is finished and he doesn’t know what he is going to do or how he can pay it back.

I told him to get out of bed, stop feeling sorry for himself and become angrier. I explained that our problems are not caused by us even if those fucking Republican-Teahadists claim that if you don’t have a job it is your fault. The morass and lack of prosperity that most of the American people are feeling are not of their own doing.

There has been a process in place for a few decades now to redistribute the wealth. It is a veritable WELFARE STATE FOR THE RICH. It would serve these wealthy 1% if we stayed quiet, meek and obedient – they love to promote religion for example because people of faith ordinarily don’t question, don’t complain about their lot in life because their religion tells them to accept it since it is the will of God.

I am appalled by this kind of thinking. First of all, we are supposed to be rational, intelligent beings and should be able to sort things out. We can’t let somebody else define either religion, our place in society or our rights for us…that is something we have to do for ourselves.

The message I have is that we can’t ever let those who caused our misery forget they are responsible and should own it…they have to man up and accept responsibility instead of trying to give us more of the same or worse: make the problems even worse by giving more tax cuts to the rich and the corporations.

It is incumbent upon us to protest, to be pro-active, to participate in protests, to write rants in our blogs, to let everyone know how we feel and to try to make a difference. You see, if we do nothing they will think that they are right…whether it is on the establishment of a theocracy or whether it is a forced plutocracy with the destruction of our democratic process while they are at it.

There has never been a movement that is silenced by repression…yes, they can postpone the inevitable, they can muzzle and hit us with batons, they can pepper spray and tear gas us but the ideas remain and will survive that and much more.

The next thing for us 98% to do is to try to talk to our friends and neighbors, to participate in protests unafraid of the consequences because not to do so will mean the end of the American dream as we know it; so get out of bed, abandon those blues and become involved, get angry and become pro-active.

As a youngster I lived first under a corrupt plutocracy then came a totalitarian communist regime and I don’t want to have to go through that again. It brings to mind the words in the song that Janice Joplin sang: “FREEDOM IS JUST ANOTHER WORD FOR NOTHING LEFT TO LOOSE” and friends, right now “WE AIN’T FREE”

But most of all remember that the 1% is very well versed in fucking the rest of us, the wealthy is only concerned about greed and greed has no conscience; they have absolutely no intentions in sharing their wealth or paying their fair share of taxes; keep in mind that the Bush tax cuts have been in effect for almost a decade and have created no jobs…keep in mind also that the old, failed concept of TRICKLE DOWN ECONOMICS never worked and never will.
