Free speech is not free any more…it costs money and those who have the money can buy it and do so anonymously and without limits.
This is what Senator Rubio wrote back to me:

Thank you for writing me regarding a constitutional amendment to regulate the spending in federal elections. I always appreciate hearing the thoughts of fellow Floridians on the important issues of the day.
I am a strong supporter of free speech in all forms and believe that speech includes political contributions. Free speech is vital to the elections process and should be vigorously defended. That being said, I respect and support the Supreme Court's ruling in favor of free speech in Citizens United vs. the Federal Elections Commission.
It is an honor and a privilege to serve as your United States Senator. Although we may not agree, I appreciate you offering your opinion on this issue. If I can ever be of any assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact me. “
That is precisely what has happened with Citizen’s United…when the rest of us in society can’t express our opinions because we can’t compete with the corporations and the very wealthy, free speech ceases to exist.
