I don’t know if that possibility has entered anybody’s mind but in an act of desperation they might call on McCain to run for President again.
Let’s face it folks, so far what we have seen is a parade of incompetent, self-aggrandizing, radical right wing, insane asylum escapees trying to pander to that ignorant, xenophobic, homophobic and racist base and we have seen them walk the parade route behind a very loud, caccophonic band followed by one empty sound of a void created by lack of reason and outrageous.
To these pompous, publicity seekers there wasn’t a slight chance they would get that coveted nomination but they went on and on fighting each other and demonstrating their disdain for the poor and the middle class. As a result, this nomination process has become contentious and divisive and hasn’t produced a viable candidate. The bickering and crass conduct has had the opposite effect.
It is not surprising then that the Republicans are at a loss and desperate. They know that Romney is not acceptable for many reasons: his flip-flopping, his aloofness and robotic demeanor, his religion which is not going to motivate those Evangelical-Fundamentalist fanatics to mobilize all their church-going sheep, put them in buses from the church parking lot and take them to the polls.
What is the GOP to do? They are hell-bent on making Obama a one term President but they are at a loss when it comes to a candidate. Even if they conduct egregious and radical election law changes, they rig the elections by disenfranchising millions of voters…the numbers are just not going to be there to justify a victory…even if it goes to the Supreme Court as it did in 2000.
It appears to me that the only logical strategy for the Republicans to put up an electable candidate is to draft John McCain who has name recognition and has of lately drifted so far to the right to make him totally unpalatable for the rest of us liberal-progressives…a center-of-the-road moderate he ain’t.
“The Tea Party movement distrusts and even hates John McCain. He is constantly fighting an uphill battle to prove himself with a disappointed, angry, organized conservative electorate. In his attempt to ingratiate himself with this new radical right power base, he has attempted to change his message, his friends and his tone. The result is a John McCain who is completely different from the man that moderates and liberals once admired. After voting against a health care reform bill that in better days he would have been co-sponsoring, he stomped his foot like a third grader and announced unequivocally that he would withhold his cooperation from any Senate business for the rest of the year. He wanted to be seen talking tough to the Democrats,. instead, he simply sounded like a petulant juvenile. Since the election, he has backtracked on immigration reform, financial reform and energy reform as well.”
What are the chances of that happening? I don’t know, but only time will tell. One thing is certain, he will not have Sarah Palin as his running mate.
