Not just a fluke, not once or twice but even after a disastrous Presidency of an incompetent and inarticulate man left the country in economic shambles.
But whenever Republicans have had to rally fight it out as they are undoubtedly doing now, they will disenfranchise voters, change Congressional district boundaries and if that is not sufficient then they will get the Supreme Court right-wing assholes to crown the little emperor as they did with Bush in 2000.
But if anybody should disagree and opt to protest as is their right granted by our Constitution then they go after these protestors with a vengeance...they have to conform, to be obedient and under control or they will be pepper sprayed, handcuffed and carried off to jail after they got a good beating. I often have compared this to setting fire to a theater and blocking the exits.
Justinw commented on this:
“They win for a whole host of reasons. The win because many of "us" are stupid sheep who believe any fairy story handed to us if it's couched in the right religious terms. They win because many of "us" are deeply conditioned to automatically abhor anything painted with certain labels rather than thinking about the situation with careful analysis. They win because a large percentage of "us" are apathetic, because it doesn't touch "us" (we think). They win because many of "us" think that others of us are "them", and to be vilified and feared. And finally, they win because a lot of "us" are total assholes who really don't care what's good for *all* of "us".
Does it seem clear to anybody that the 1% plutocrats want the general population to be religious? It is a no-brainer; religious fanatics are much too busy with their religion…trying to find validation for it and for their lives to do any other activity than church related…and then of course they are good followers, just like the sheep that follows the Sheppard…that is why I hate the term PASTOR…he/she will invariably get up on the pulpit and deliver some inflammatory rhetoric then urge the congregation to board the church buses that will take them to the polls to vote against themselves basically.
There are many other stupid reasons why people vote a certain way; you probably have heard “My daddy, my grandpa voted Republican and so will I” or like the godmother of my daughter who actually voted Republican because Dan Quayle was on the ticket and he was “cute”. Then there is that overly simplistic adage: “he/she is one politician I would like to have a beer with”. But the one that bothers me the most is one that celebrates ignorance and stupidity…they actually do not value meritocracy or intellectual pursuit…those are for the most part the Teabaggers who don’t know history, geography, economics, their own English language and live in a separate world of Armageddon, church functions and bake sales. These are the most dangerous people to the preservation of a democratic process…yet they defend the interests of that 1% when they don’t have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of.
