Think again, because you as an individual can’t do much but if you unite with others you can join boycotts that will send powerful messages.
I have been carrying my own little boycotts for years; they include EXXON-SHELL, WALMART, and CHURCHES OF ALL STRIPES and have been doing so knowing full well that my denying these companies or organizations my business doesn’t make that big of a difference.
However, I do it as a matter of principle, I do it because I am not a hypocrite and I figure that people would eventually come to the same conclusion I have and will then carry out an organized, mass protest boycott against those corporations that are hurting America or promoting bigotry and homophobia.
Corporations are not people, contrary to what some Republicans will have you believe; and as such, they also have no conscience or scruples…so it is up to us to point out to those at the helm of these corporations that some of the things they are doing in the name of greed are just perverse and unacceptable and what better place to hit them than their pocketbooks?
I thought of starting a blog in which I would ask other fellow bloggers to join in and take up one corporation at a time and boycott that business for a whole month…hoping that it would grow and they would feel the loss of revenues. I thought if we all stopped using EXXON for a whole month and then SHELL the following that it would be effective.
Now I am watching how a grass-roots movement is taking over Wall Street, it was unexpected and at the same time welcomed by me because I didn’t think it would come this soon. Frankly, President Obama should capitalize on it and go over to Wall Street, join the protests and lead them into the Stock Market building itself in a symbolic take over and declare to America and to the NY police: “I am here, pepper spray me, see if you can stop us now”
I am not going to start the blog because when I looked in the listings there are plenty of those blogs that boycott one thing or another and mine would not make a ripple in the water. But I would suggest you look into those.
For example, most Americans are totally disgusted with the Koch brothers but don’t know how to voice their disdain; I suggest that you go to: http://www.chailife.com/2011/02/boycott-koch-industries-avoid-these-brands/
And then try your best not to use any of the products pictured above (logos) and these ones here below:
