Those Wall Street-Hedge Funds types are already salivating at the prospect of that happening.
Can you imagine a system that is much like our healthcare industry with the parasite intermediaries (insurance companies) to skim off all kinds of fees and service charges? Can you even conceptualize how a fabricated Stock Market crash would wipe out the retirement savings of millions of seniors? Well, it has happened before as I can attest myself.
And it is not because Social Security is a SOCIALIST program or the most successful of all the safety net programs that they oppose it…they are doing it out of greed, they can’t wait to get their grubby-greedy hands on it…it is not about ideology although that is what the Republicans are trying to sell.
Social Security is doing well, thank you…it will be solvent for a few decades to come and it doesn’t need the Draconian changes these assholes are proposing. Neither do Medicare and Medicaid nor for that matter Public Education. It is true that some of these programs face serious financial problems but it is incumbent on Republicans to make it worse by cutting off government revenues…then they will be able to say that Medicare and Medicaid will be eliminated because the government has no money.
In the meantime, the few Republican Governors like ours in Florida are trying to vilify welfare recipients by making laws that require drug testing so that we can all get the impression that welfare recipients are all a bunch of drug addicts.
What is it about these Republican-Teahadists that they begrudge giving a few thousand dollars a year to a single mother trying to raise her children and turn around and give the super wealthy and the corporation’s tax rates lower than what ordinary people pay and then additional tax loopholes and subsidies? That money spent on welfare, Medicare, Medicaid, doesn’t even make a ripple as a drop in that bucket when compared to the inequities in favor of the wealthy.
And you ask why people are protesting against Wall Street?
