So his claim may be correct, but what is not clear is if they came because they were pro-Castro and took to exile.
As a Cuban I can tell you that I saw many people leave between 1957 and 1959 and they were all left, pro-Castro Cubans. I know of very few…only a handful that actually emigrated for economic reasons.
So that this idea that Rubio is the perfect example of Cuban exiles that came over because they opposed the communist regime is bunk as has been exposed by the Washington Post.
And do you know why he was hiding that contradiction? It is because as Cuban exiles, we look at someone who helped Castro and supported his take over in a negative way; surely he counts on the votes of the Cuban community who would be pissed if they found out that his parents were Castro supporters.
