How I wish that was a true headline
Can you imagine if our President actually had enough cojones to go down to Wall Street, have the CIA pick and have 100 protestors clear a security check and then march leading them with his entourage of Secret Service right into the Stock Exchange and make the following pronouncement:
“Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen; it has come to this and I am sure that the right wing media and the ideologues in the Republican Party will have a reaction not unlike that of what we had when we were attacked at Pearl Harbor. Their anger and vitriol will reach unprecedented levels now. But we are ready for those as we are also ready to take back our country. I dare them to come and pepper spray us now.
Make no mistake about it; the American people know who caused the economic meltdown where we lost more than 20% of all accumulated wealth this country has gathered in two centuries. And you know what? These same people who caused this crisis not only got away with doing so with impunity but also are now trying to bring us more of the same; including and not limited to making me a one term President.
I am here today to announce that I have instructed our Attorney General to bring charges against those who caused our economic crisis and I have also initiated the creation of a committee who will see the breaking up of those institutions that were “too big to fail” and continue to be so. After all, we do have this as a Constitutional precedent in the Anti-monopoly policies that were instituted by our government in the past.
Those trying to protect the special interests of the wealthy to keep their taxes way below what the rest of America pays and those corporations that are supposed to be the “Job Creators” will have to make do with the tax rates they had 20 or 30 years ago…and they will call me a SOCIALIST, they already have, but those jobs are only being created overseas..
A lot of people accuse me of giving too long an answer and being too professorial, or that I give away the store before I sit down to negotiate…we have compromised enough, given in enough only to find that Republicans stiff us and the American people time and time again. So I will make this one brief: We are also initiating a directive that will force Wall Street, banks and other financial institutions to go ahead and put the money they are sitting on back into circulation…and that is more than three trillion dollars…as well as instituting regulations on them that will prevent this from ever happening again. We will all see how unemployment will be wiped out almost overnight and prosperity will return to America.
In the end, I may be a one term President; but this is not about me, it is about the American people, the American way of life and the survival of the middle class. Thank you for your support of this cause, thank you and God bless America”
