My grandfather used to tell me to count to ten before I spewed out some stupidity. We can make the case that some people misspeak, say things they didn’t mean to say or came out wrong…perhaps interpreted wrongly.
But that is not the case with most Republicans…they will say things that are outlandish and extremely radical, sometimes insulting and demeaning…and later on when the shit hits the fan and the repudiation is widespread they feign to be sorry, give a half ass apology which most of the time isn’t an apology but doubling down on what they said in the first place and the rest of us have no recourse than to stay indignant.
The red meat that is being fed to the radical base is thrown out there and even when the Republicans pretend to be giving an authentic apology it isn’t…it is a continuation of the same old crap and the “code words and phrases” are then repeated in order to pacify the base…as if saying something accompanied by a wink.
In the case of Rush Limbaugh, he can say whatever that pompous, repugnant human phlegm wants to say and there isn’t a single Republican willing or able to condemn the son of a bitch. Rush doesn’t need to apologize…as a matter of fact he says all these things knowing full well they are incendiary, controversial and mostly untrue. But that is how he makes more money; staying relevant through outrageousness.

But on the other hand, you have other politicians that do have to watch their p’s and q’s and they will when pressed offer a fake and hypocritical apology…or a denial that they said some shit like that (SOMETIMES EVEN VIDEOS ARE AIRED PROVING THEY DID SAY IT)…and the base knows that the wink that accompanies the reversal reassures them that it was what he said in the first place what he meant. (ie: Saint Santorum’s rant about Kennedy’s speech on the separation of church and state made him want to vomit)
