A conversation or discussion I’ve had one too many times.
In the minds of most of these Fundamentalist Christianist-Evangelicals, a gay person is not any better than a murderer or a rapist; and therein lies most of the problem.
A conversation…well more like a heated argument with one of these Bible pushing, religious fanatic freak a few years back, I asked him how it was possible for the actions of gay people to affect his faith, his life or his marriage. The answer simply floored me: “Well, if you have a murderer society can’t allow that person to go freely killing people.”
Sadly, this is the way most of them think about homosexuality…a crime, a sin, an abomination. I hold responsible all these radical religious types for perpetuating and spreading this kind of hatred. By getting up there in the pulpit and spewing all their vitriolic, idiotic views on erroneous interpretations of the Scriptures, they are successful in brainwashing their “sheep” followers into thinking in this manner.
I absolutely will not let somebody telling me this kind of crap and letting him get away with it. So I went into a bellicose mode and told him that not only was he wrong in accepting such repugnant and destructive interpretations of the Scriptures but I reminded him that Jesus Christ himself never uttered a word against homosexuals, not one fucking word.
I ended the argument when I got really crass and told him: “So you think that God looks at you more favorably simply because you stick your dick into a dirty cunt?” He walked out huffing and puffing and I am sure that he remembers the encounter to this day.
