ABOUT THE BLACKOUT TODAY

I think that Google being blacked out sends a very clear message of what things could become if this insane INTERNET CENSORSHIP law is enacted

This excuse that it is meant to prevent piracy and illicit use of copyright material is totally bogus. If lawmakers really wanted to do something useful, why don’t they go after all these virus creators that infect your computer and demand you buy their software to remove it. Or these invasive pop-ups that take you to places you wouldn’t want to go in the first place.

Forced advertising and blackmail are things they could work on instead of trying to control free speech.

When it comes to copyrighted material, in almost three years of blogging I have only had two requests to remove photos. One was an ex-porn repentant who didn’t want his naked picture shown yet he posed for it for some porn studio.

The other one came from a photographer that requested very politely that I remove the photo she had the rights to. I picked the picture in another blog and had no idea as to its origin nor was I able to give it credit for that reason. I promptly removed as I so clearly express in my disclaimer below.

I also think that perhaps GOOGLE itself can see the writing on the wall and they will refrain from arbitrarily and summarily closing down blogs because there is a complaint. I can imagine how easy it would be for some hate group, some homophobic organization or individual, some religious Christianist outfit to request that my blog is removed from Google and they in turn comply.

If SOPA & PIPA become Law you will only see what they want you to see, because you won’t be allowed to!! Don't know what SOPA & PIPA is? Bing.com - Google.com or Yahoo.com it while you still can!! Today there is a planed internet blackout in protest of these 2 bills
