WHY DO WE GET THE IMPRESSION THAT CONSERVATIVES ARE NOT AS INTELLIGENT?

I don’t think it is a matter of intellectual elitism or a desire to ridicule them

I think it has more to do with us on the progressive-liberal side observing the way they think, how they act, what makes them tick. You see it's constantly how they take facts and twist them; they get a hold of information and fit it to their ideology and if it doesn’t fit or apply they will either misrepresent it or embellish it to where it is no longer the same information.

It is a given that these ultra-conservatives shun any type of intellectual endeavor; they gloat at their lack of knowledge and boast of their ignorance. Oftentimes these people will try to vilify anyone in academia as the elitist left; implying that their learning and accumulation of knowledge is useless in dealing with the nation’s problems. Being a college graduate almost disqualifies anyone in the extreme right to be considered to run for any office…there exists a purity test and it appears that the more ignorant they are, the more outlandish their gaffs the more the base loves them.

What also gets me is that oftentimes that very base will be demonstrating, protesting, carrying signs that are so blatantly false and more often than not with spelling errors that makes us on the left cringe with sorrow for them.

We have seen a parade of clowns seeking the nomination to run for President. One after another; from Sarah Palin, Rick Santorum, Hucklebee, Cain, Gingrich, Perry and now Romney they go through a honeymoon with the base and once they get exposed as either frauds or intellectually challenged or morally corrupt the base abandons them. They get tangled in these demonstrations of ignorance and that is when even their loyal base abandons them. It is a very serious problem for the GOP because there is not one single candidate who even gets close to having the qualifications to be President of the United States

But then again, the Republicans are getting what they deserve: first by divorcing themselves from reality and living in a cocoon that totally ignores the vicissitudes the general population is going through, second because they have set a very low standard, insisting that their candidates should be just common folk without education or experience. Thirdly: because the ultra-right conservatives which include that Evangelical base hate science and intellectual endeavor and lastly, they gave us one of the most incompetent and inarticulate Presidents who drove the country to ruin and now they expect the American people to elect yet another one like Bush.

It is a normal thing for religious fanaticism to reject all things intellectual…after all, facts, scientific evidence and common sense give way to superstition, made up fairy tales and a strict requirement to follow those religions’ dogma. It is not in their interest to have a well educated brethren, it is necessary that they be as dumb as possible in order to manipulate them, control them and make them contribute to these churches they belong to.Smart people are a horrendous inconvenience to organized religion.

With this in mind, I think that there is hope that these ignorant, meritocracy and intellectualism foes will not be able to gain any elections any time soon. THERE IS HOPE FOR AMERICA after all and it is because these people are idiots!
