EVERYONE SHOULD PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE, EVERYBODY HAS TO SACRIFICE

Everyone that is except the very wealthy and the big corporations

Like many millions of Americans I sacrifice every day. I refrain from buying that expensive cut of meat, or the more fashionable article of clothing. I have to adhere to a very strict budget in order to make ends meet. There are many out there who are not as lucky as I am, at least I have food on my table and still have a roof over my head.

We are constantly told that we are all in this together and that we have to pay our fair share. After working for more than 50 years of my life I can assure you that I paid my Income Taxes, my property taxes and of course every time I bought something I paid sales taxes as well.

I am also aware of which corporations either have very lousy pay and lack of benefits for their employees or contribute to the bribery that is taking place with lobbyists and legislators. I am also much too aware of which rich folks and what company is homophobic and is contributing and fighting to deny some people the rights everyone else has.

For this reason, I conduct my own boycott; I refuse to purchase anything at Wal-Mart or put any Exxon gasoline in my car. I know, it is almost futile because I am just one person and there are millions out there who make my efforts meaningless…but not so fast, as more and more people become well informed the days of these large conglomerates to exploit and take advantage of the system, not pay taxes and keep wages low their days are numbered. We saw but a sliver of an example with the recent attempt by Bank of America to charge this obscene fee for ATM transactions.

I think that as this Occupy Wall Street movement evolves there will be organized efforts to boycott some of those taking advantage of the 99%. It may not be all of them at once…who could possibly avoid putting gas in their car or food on their tables, clothes on their backs or shoes on their feet; but it could be done by rationing and limiting the boycotts…for example: for one month people would refrain from buying at Wall-Mart and stopping by an Exxon gas station. Surely this will cause a tremendous drop in their profits. The next month other business would take their turn, for example BP Oil and I guarantee that they will buckle just as Bank of America did.
