THE ARGUMENT THAT KEEPS COMING BACK AS TALKING POINTS BY REPUBLICANS

Where in the hell do they get this information? Who provides them with facts and empirical evidence to support and justify implementation of all these radical proposals?

This post is dedicated to those who wish to remain “anonymous”

You may have noticed that I no longer accept any comments from anyone without a profile, an e-mail address or lurking in the shadows of anonymity because I am not going to provide them with a free podium.

“Many liberals forget that Barney Frank and Chris Dodd led the deregulation charge when they took over the Senate/House in 2006” Wrote anonymous recently. How terribly simplistic, don’t you think? A crisis that has been in the horizon for decades due to systematic and pervasive elimination of regulations as well of the tolerance we incurred by allowing peripheral business entities to spring up and become just as powerful and bigger than banks and Wall Street. (too big to fail)

This is simply not the work of Dodd and Frank; this has been brewing for years as we continued to succumb to the demands and pressures from Republicans and even some Democrats who were in the pockets of the very rich and the corporations.

This elimination of regulations was possibly one of the biggest reasons we had this crisis. The other was the obscene and irresponsible tax breaks for the rich Bush pushed through and which caused a deficit to be created when he actually had inherited a surplus from Clinton.

And don’t tell me that spending over $750 billion dollars in an unnecessary war didn’t contribute to our deficit…particularly since Bush and the Republicans in their “shell game” accounting were hiding it from the budgets. War is ugly and it only brings misery and ruin to both sides.

Anonymous goes on to say: “Now, Obama is implementing Obamacare and like it or not, 1 in 3 doctors have said they will discontinue practicing medicine if Obamacare is not repealed. So, while there will not be rationing, you will not have to wait in line for some time to see your doctors. Thousands of consumers die waiting for care in Canada and Great Britain. And, as a result, many come here for care.” (I wonder where he gets these statistics)

I don’t know what doctors you have been talking to but my doctor and all those who supported President Obama have recognized the need for Health Care reform and support just about any legislation that will do that…they are that fed up and desperate with the status quo. The main doctors and nurses organizations have had their photos taken supporting the President…hell, even the nuns have come out in favor of this legislation and you could hardly call those pro-abortion.

To say that there will be “rationing” is so lame, so stupid because rationing is what we have now, worse actually since it is denial of care because of inability to pay and they keep on dying, thousands and thousands every year. At least In Canada and Great Britain they may wait some time to get some elective procedure done and then you get your problem taken care of; but you ask any Canadian or any Brit if they would like to have our system and they will look at you with a WTF look on their faces.

Those who come here for care are swimming in money. No poor person from another country can afford the astronomical costs we have in medical care in America. They also come because there are many medical procedures we are still at the cutting edge and have perfected. The majority of the people in those countries get health care and they get it gratis, free, at no cost, no insurance fat cat is skimming off a percentage to be able to live in the lap of luxury and provide no redeeming value or service. Insurance companies are the middle men, the intermediary who do absolutely nothing to earn their keep, they are not even useful to society, they are parasites because they are in the business of “taking a risk” which they avoid and take none only reap profits.

Obama care will bankrupt the country? That is just one of the many scare tactics, one of the invalid reasons your talking points gurus have handed you. The cuts that should and will come will be on unnecessary procedures in order to bill and collect moneys, the waste and subsidies, the overall culture that Medicare exists for the benefit and profit of insurance companies and they will cease to exist if heaven forbid we get UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE.

For those who have to wait to get any medical assistance, waiting is preferable to not getting any at all. There are many of the unemployed whose COBRA ran out and don’t qualify for Medicare yet. What should happen if they get sick? They would either not get any medical attention or would have to sell everything they have and if they survive the illness they would have to live out of a cardboard box under a bridge while the insurance companies laugh all the way to the bank. Now, how is that for an argument that we have “the best healthcare in the world”? But no, you insist in keeping the status quo.

The home foreclosures statistics don’t lie; they tell you that most of those who have lost their homes in some way also had a medical crisis they could not afford and it is directly tied to the loss in employment where COBRA is not affordable or even some who are employed but their cheap fucking asshole employers don’t have any healthcare benefits.

This anonymous continues with: “Obama's solution is more government in our lives. Shouldn't people be concerned when government institutions like the Post Office, Social Security and Medicare have all gone pretty broke? Why should we believe this solution of government taking over?”

I can’t defend the Post Office because it may be a dying institution with the advent of the internet; however, it was one of the Founding Fathers’ initiatives and it does pay for itself, it would be self-funded if it wasn’t for all the money that our government is extracting from them

But as far as Social Security is concerned we would have a solid, solvent system if the Republicans had not kept raiding the funds to use it for other purposes. The facts are there that Social Security is solvent without even touching it for the next couple of decades…so I don’t see the urgency to do away with it. Oh, yes, I forget, Bush and the Republicans wanted to privatize it and it has become part of their mantra today. That is the “Free Enterprise” way…the fat cats in Wall Street are already salivating and dreaming up Ponzi schemes on how they are going to take that money and run with it. Not that it is of any importance to you “anonymous” but that money exists, it is put in there, week after week, month after month by people like me and to say that it is going broke or it is some kind of welfare is absurd since the money was there to begin with, I like millions of retired seniors worked all our lives and put money into the system only to find out later that the system is broke? There are too many Bernie Madoffs out there and you seem to think that is acceptable by handing over our Social Security to them.

I didn’t fritter away my money, I didn’t take lavish and expensive vacations, I hardly even went out to eat so that I would not be in the situation I find myself in today. I lost my 401K and my pension in 2008, thanks to your elimination of regulations that caused the economic crisis. That money is gone now and are you going to pay my mortgage? Are you going to subsidize my medical and drug bills? Many millions of Americans saw their life savings evaporate and their home values plummet and I was one among many. That is the reason I say that “REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH” has already taken place, it has gone from the poor and the middle classes to the very rich and the corporations. What the Republicans have done is to create a WELFARE SYSTEM FOR THE RICH AND THE CORPORATIONS…yes they got bailed out but we didn’t.

As far as Medicare…I have already made a point that it is so costly because there is so much going to insurance companies and also because the cost of medical care is so high in America. But you are making the claim that government is too big and that government “is the problem” that you so willingly accepted from Reagan. If you think that there should be no Social Security or Medicare, ask any senior if they should be eliminated and like the Canadian or Brit they will look at you with a WTF look on their faces.

In another post, anonymous said: “Well, if the war was unnecessary, then why did Obama keep troops there and keep the same Defense Cabinet person. Obviously, there is a war going on with terror whether people want to realize it or not.”

Right, and we should pick up and just go, correct? So that President Obama will “cut and run” like your argument claimed during the campaign. President Obama is getting us out of Iraq in an orderly fashion, using common sense and he inherited that war. If as a result of this unnecessary war the Iraqi people have gained some freedoms that are about the only beneficial result that war has had, but at what cost? And was that the reason we went into Iraq in the first place? It wasn’t go give these people our version of democracy and what we value so much, it was for the oil interests and control, it was a war for oil and Bush and his cronies lied to the American people and to the world in order to invade Iraq. You can’t defend that and you can’t make me change my mind on that issue particularly when you take into consideration that more than 4,000 of our brave men and women in uniform made the ultimate sacrifice.

Make no mistake about it: to call it “War on Terror” is disingenuous because if we are terrorized, scared and fearful then we have to admit that the terrorists have achieved their purpose. If the Republicans can only use this as a political tool and say that they are the only ones capable of defending our country because there is a war of terror going on then they are using fear for political purposes and fail to give our President any credit for eliminating Osama bin Laden…supposedly a fellow Muslim of the President like you claim.

I can go on and on with the rest of the garbage this “anonymous” posted but I don’t think it is worth the effort nor merits my time and trouble. Like I said, if I wanted to hear Beck’s or Limbaugh’s point of view I would just go to their sites or listen or watch their vile crap spewed.

My recommendation to this low life is to man up, to stop hiding behind anonymity because if your convictions are so righteous, your ideology so wonderful then you would not be ashamed and had a need to hide.
