IT IS NOT SO MUCH THAT IOWA IS IRRELEVANT

It’s more like the whole Republican primaries are irrelevant

I am not so sure that it is not an intentional effort to distract the American people. While the Iowa voters who are not representative of the rest of America will pick some looser Evangelical or a Libertarian that reflects their provincial, close minded, bigoted ideology; the rest of America is looking at the whole process with incredulity, it all seems like a circus act, a totally useless process, a very askew exercise in futility.

And as I said, it may all be intentional because while we are being entertained by the three ring circus other real crucial issues are put on the back burner or totally ignored.

To make my point I can tell you that I watched cable news and some of the network news as well yesterday and it seems that more than 60% of the coverage involved the Iowa caucus. It just so happens that that very day in Congress the Republican-Teahadists voted against an extension of the payroll tax extension which will translate into roughly $1,000 a year taken out of those making an average salary. That is an increase in taxes by any definition and is not just unacceptable it is scandalous.

A curious thing that has happened is that the Republicans who even have signed a pledge in arm-twisting mode forced on them to not ever, under any circumstances raise taxes…but not raise them for whom? Are the working poor and the middle class included in this pledge provided by Grover Norquist or does it only apply to the very wealthy?

You decide and if you are not utterly pissed, the only thing I can say to you is: go ahead, vote for Republicans again and you will not only see the redistribution of wealth get worse but you will also suffer from the decimation of the middle class and even more alarming: the abandoning of the concept of DEMOCRACY.
