DO WE HAVE TO HAVE A RIGHT WING OR A LEFT WING DICTATORSHIP?

Whether it is a radical, right wing repressive dictatorship or a left, totalitarian repressive tyranny, I don’t want it…could we have a DEMOCRACY instead? Thank you.

The majority of Americans stand somewhere in the middle. They are what you could classify as moderates in almost all issues. The American people in their never ending kindness and tolerance have for the roots of their convictions some very hefty and valid ideas…that which the Founding Fathers bequeathed them. They also have a very effective and powerful Constitution from which we derive the laws that protect and guide us.

However, we have seen erosion in both the concepts the Founding Fathers left and the Constitution itself by radical groups that have secured enough power and influence to exact these changes that put our principles, our concepts of what government does for us and the nature of society as well. The question still remains: What kind of people are we and what kind of society do we want to live in?

There seems to be a disconnect on both the left and the right extremes of the ideology spectrum. On the one hand we have the Republican Party acting as the benefactors of the 1% of those who hold the power and wealth. On the other hand we have extremist leftist proponents of a totally socialized, government led society. We even have on the radical right Presidential candidates who believe that Corporations are people to go along with some misguided activist Supreme Court Justices.

I firmly believe that Americans had a very short attention span and were easily distracted by football, church activities and American Idol or Dancing with the Stars. Both political parties were dishing out what the general population wanted; much in the tradition of Republican Rome which was the model we have adopted to shape our government. Make no mistake about it, Republican Rome was a PLUTOCRACY where very few held the wealth and the power and the rest of the population was given free spectacles in the Coliseum to keep them distracted. In my opinion, this is the very thing the Republicans are trying to do with this primary nominating process…a veritable three-ring circus designed to keep people distracted from the real issues of inequality and the redistribution of wealth going to the top 1%.

But you know what? It is not working for them or for the rest of us. Save a few ignorant, Teabagger who are dominating the nomination process everyone else is looking at this as a ridiculous, laughable circus like sequence of events. That in itself may very well be the demise of the Republican Party.

The concept of DEMOCRACY, that noble and just experiment that we supposedly have incorporated into our political system is nothing but a joke. The special interests have corrupted it with their contributions, the politicians are not beholden to those who elect them but to those who contribute the most to their campaigns. These right wingers insist that if we offer a welfare state for the wealthy and the corporations that the wealth would “TRICKLE DOWN” on to the general population and create jobs as well as untold prosperity. And in addition to all this we have the Supreme Court of the land reaffirming the right of corporations to contribute unlimited amounts of money to campaigns and doing it anonymously. There isn’t a single attack on this noble experiment we call DEMOCRACY than that.

If these radical right wing groups had their way we would have in place a PLUTOCRACY which is almost in place right now with also a THEOCRACY to go side by side with the government. It is not surprising then that we are seeing signs of the general population rejecting such concepts like in Wisconsin where the almost have all the necessary signatures to recall an extremist right winger Governor, or the protests we are seeing nationwide in the form of OCCUPY WALL STREET.

When you see a totalitarian regime like that of North Korea or Cuba you notice the lack of individual participation in a democratic process…that is what they do, that is what keeps these tyrannies in power…denying the general population the ability to be represented and to carry out their will via those they elect.

So we come to the conclusion that neither extreme right nor radical left will serve us well and is diametrically opposed to all that America stands for.

If you are angry then you should support the 28th Amendment

And I would attach to it a provision that reads: Votes from Congress and Senate dealing with funding the government and the budget shall pass with a simple majority (51%) and filibusters are expressly prohibited.
